Cavitation Phenomenon in Pumps and Preventive Measures
Cavitation is a phenomenon that may occur during pump operation, referring to the vaporization of liquid in low-pressure areas forming bubbles, which then collapse in high-pressure zones, causing impact on flow components. Cavitation can lead to pump vibration, increased noise, reduced head, and damage to parts like the impeller. Measures to prevent cavitation include: reasonably calculating the Net Positive Suction Head Available (NPSHa), reducing the pump's installation height, minimizing suction line resistance losses, and controlling the temperature of the pumped liquid.
